About Us

We are a leading cybersecurity-focused Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) based in Paramus, NJ. Our mission is to deliver high-quality IT and cybersecurity services, empowering businesses to navigate today's technology and compliance challenges.

We are adding a dedicated developer for our web application, two products built on one foundation. The application is a client portal that gives each client's security officers a centralized place to see their devices and security posture and act on them directly. The internal portal powers FCI's own operations, turning manual internal processes into efficient, purpose-built tools for our team. Both are central to where the company is going, and this role owns their build pipeline.

Position Overview

This is a builder's role, structured to set you up to ship from week one. You won't be reverse-engineering vendor systems or guessing at requirements: our senior architect produces detailed build plans — the approach, the data shapes, the dead ends to avoid — and you turn those plans into working, tested features across both portals, built in self-hosted Retool with JavaScript, PostgreSQL, and REST APIs.

We build AI-first, and we're looking for someone who's genuinely passionate about it — someone who follows how AI-assisted development keeps reshaping what's possible, experiments with new tools and techniques as they emerge, and has strong opinions about how to use them well. AI coding tools are part of the official workflow here. You don't need years of experience; you need solid JavaScript and SQL fundamentals, real shipped work behind you, and the discipline to follow a plan faithfully and speak up fast when reality diverges from it.

Key Responsibilities

1. Feature Implementation
- Build portal features to detailed plans: multi-page Retool apps and workflows with conditional logic, interactive components, and reusable structures.
- Write JavaScript-based data transformations using Retool Transformers and JS queries.
- Test your work against the plan's requirements before it ships; keep error rates low through attention to detail.

2. SQL & Data Handling
- Write PostgreSQL queries with joins, filters, and JSONB handling to the specifications in each build plan.
- Ensure data pulled from multiple source systems displays accurately and consistently in the portal.

3. API & Workflow Integration
- Integrate external REST APIs and internal endpoints as specified in build plans.
- Manage query dependencies and loading states for responsive, stable pages.
- Automate portal processes, alerts, and user-driven events using JavaScript and query triggers.

4. AI-Assisted Development
- Build with AI coding tools as a core part of daily work, and keep improving how you use them as the tools evolve.
- Own the quality of what ships: verify AI output through review and testing rather than trusting it blindly.

5. Collaboration & Process
- Work in short feature branches through Retool Source Control and GitHub pull requests; merge often.
- Participate in daily standups: progress, plan, blockers — proactively and in writing when needed.
- Escalate true unknowns to the senior architect with evidence, rather than improvising around the plan or stalling on it.

Required Skills and Qualifications
- Solid JavaScript fundamentals — you can write, read, and debug real JS, and you've used it in work that shipped (professional, freelance, or substantial personal projects).
- Working SQL skills — comfortable writing queries with joins and filters; PostgreSQL a plus.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON — consuming endpoints, handling responses, managing auth basics.
- At least one real thing you've built end-to-end that people actually used — an internal tool, dashboard, portal, or app.
- AI coding tools are already part of how you build — and you can walk us through exactly how you use them and how you check their work.
- Ability to follow a detailed technical plan faithfully — and to raise issues early, clearly, and with evidence.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Retool or other low-code platforms (Appsmith, Superblocks, Budibase, ToolJet).
- PostgreSQL and JSONB field handling.
- React, TypeScript, or Node.js exposure.
- Git-based branching and pull-request workflows.
- Exposure to MSP/MSSP, IT services, or security/compliance environments.

Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving instincts — isolates variables, reproduces issues, and reasons through unfamiliar problems methodically.
- Reliable, proactive communication — no surprises; blockers and mistakes surface early, in writing.
- Ability to take direction without ego and disagree professionally — propose a better way, but build what's decided.

Position Details: Full-time; salary range $85,000 - $100,000 with bonus opportunities for high performance; 8-hour shift Monday to Friday, on-call rotation for escalations, occasional off-hours work for releases and urgent fixes. Work Location: Remote.
